– Ronaldo has the most goals in men’s international football with 135. He passed Iran’s Ali Daei’s previous record of 108 in June 2021.
– His 217 caps are also a record, going past Bader Al Mutawa’s 196 for Kuwait in March 2023.
– Ronaldo, Lionel Messi (112) and Daei are the only men with a century of international goals, while Ronaldo alone has reached 200 caps.
– Minnows Luxembourg are his favourite opponent, with 11 goals.

– In the Champions League too, Ronaldo holds the twin records of 141 goals and 187 appearances.
– Ronaldo was the first player to reach 100 goals, just over a year before rival Messi, though Messi achieved the mark in 123 games to Ronaldo’s 137.
– Ronaldo is the only player to score in three Champions League finals, and also holds records of 17 goals in a season (2013-14) and scoring in 11 successive appearances.
– He has 10 goals against Juventus, the most in the competition by any player against a single opponent.
– Messi has 129 goals with Robert Lewandowski the only other player in three figures, reaching 103 during this season.
Real Madrid
![Ronaldo’s prolific spell at Real Madrid cemented him as one of the world’s best players](https://www.irishnews.com/resizer/v2/3IX4RE27UFPEXJCGXV4UZNAEDA.jpg?auth=674f72f62f65f480161b5b11c46200ee4108bc2f852044dc51a34de616b56f3b&width=800&height=999)
– Ronaldo is Real Madrid’s record goalscorer with 450, almost 100 clear of second-placed Karim Benzema (354).
– He scored those goals in just 438 appearances, giving him a ratio better than a goal per game and an average of exactly 50 in each of his nine seasons.
– He scored 61 in all competitions in 2014-15 and just one fewer in 2011-12.
Manchester United

– Ronaldo scored 118 goals in his first spell at Manchester United, in between joining from Sporting Lisbon in 2003 and leaving for Real in a then-world record £80million move in 2009.
– He returned over a decade later in 2021, scoring 24 goals in his first season back and then another three before his controversial exit in December 2022.
– Ronaldo’s most prolific United season came in 2007-08, winning the Premier League Golden Boot with 31 goals and scoring 42 in all competitions.
