MARK Allen will face Noppon Saengkham in the quarter-final of the BetVictor Scottish Open on Friday after a 4-3 win over Jack Lisowski in Edinburgh on Thursday evening.
It was the Antrim man’s second win over Lisowski in the space of a fortnight, after his 6-3 win in the UK Championship quarter-final.
The Englishman was first on the board, a break of 106 putting him ahead, but Allen levelled with a 79. Again, Lisowski went ahead by winning frame three, but again Allen responded, this time with a run of 112.
A scrappy fifth frame went to the colours, with Allen winning it on the brown, but this time Lisowski hit back with a break of 80 to force a decider.
Lisowski had first chance in that decider but broke down on 14 and Allen’s 68 break was enough to get over the line.
Saengkham booked his spot in the last eight with a 4-2 win over Ali Carter
Earlier in the day, 2023 World champion Luca Brecel continued a mini-revival as he came from 3-1 down to beat Ding Junhui 4-3, while Wu Yize also won a decider, against Barry Hawkins.
Xiao Guodong, Chris Wakelin and Tom Ford enjoyed 4-1 wins over Stephen Maguire, Xing Zihao and Long Zehuang respectively.
