Armagh Junior Football Championship final: Belleek 2-9 Forkhill 0-15
AN INJURY-TIME comeback from Belleek ensured Forkhill and they will have to do it all again in the Armagh junior football decider.
Forkhill were on course to securing a first county JFC title in nearly 40 years until a Conor McKevitt goal and a point for Callum O’Neill levelled matters at the death in the Athletic Grounds.
It was all square at half-time, 1-5 apiece, after Darren King fisted to the net for Forkhill from a Cormac Toner pass. King then put Forkhill in front with a point right upon the resumption of play.
In the middle of the half, Seán McCreesh of Belleek and Jemar Hall traded points, leaving it level at the water break. Then, Forkhill began to put daylight between themselves and their rivals.
A string of unanswered points from Hall, Shea Coleman and two from Stephen Sheridan left Forkhill four to the good.
Callum O’Neill kept Belleek just about in touch with a pointed free before another Hall point appeared to give Forkhill the comfort blanket they needed in the final minute of normal-time.
Belleek refused to throw in the towel, though, and McKevitt and O’Neill clawed back the four-point difference to secure a replay, the date of which is to be confirmed.
