A man appeared to escape serious injury in west Belfast after video footage showed a falling roof tile narrowly missing his head during Storm Éowyn.

The clip, which has been shared widely on social media, reportedly shows the man in the garden of his house in the Andersonstown area.

He is seen trying to secure a trampoline when what appears to be a roof tile hits the ground beside him.

The man narrowly avoids being struck by the tile as it lands just beside his foot. He is then seen quickly running into the house.

Meanwhile, part of the roof of a former hotel in Newtownabbey was blown off amid the high winds on Friday.

The route remained passable with care.

The former three-star hotel is understood to have closed around two years ago with reports previously suggesting it had been used to house asylum seekers.
