Review into ‘financial management considerations’ launched at leading Northern Ireland grammar school

The Education Authority confirmed a probe is ‘ongoing’

A review has been launched into the “financial management considerations” at a leading grammar school.

The probe is underway at Assumption Grammar School in Ballynahinch, Co Down, which is regarded as one of the top schools in the north.

In a statement, the Education Authority confirmed that an investigation is “ongoing”, while the school’s board of governors also said it was “working closely” with the EA as part of the review.

An EA spokesperson said: “An investigation into financial management considerations at Assumption Grammar School has been ongoing and is still in progress.

“No conclusions have been reached at this time.”

In a statement from the board of governors at Assumption Grammar School, it said: “The board of governors at Assumption Grammar School has been working closely with the Education Authority as part of a review into financial management considerations.

“No conclusions have been reached at present; therefore, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.”
