Police respond to suspected stabbing at block of flats in west Belfast

Heavily armed police responded following a reported stabbing at a block of flats in west Belfast on Thursday.

The incident happened around 5.30pm with police remaining at the scene on South Link in Andersontown for several hours.

Armed response officers were seen entering an apartment of the first floor of the block. An ambulance was also sent to the scene.

Sinn Fein councillor Aine McCabe said: “I have been made aware of an ongoing incident at the flats in South link. PSNI are at the scene.”

The Greater Andersonstown Safer Neighbourhood Project said: “We have been made aware of a stabbing in a flat at South Link person taken to hospital police at the scene .”
