Man released after arrest in Co Fermanagh over explosive device found in Co Louth

A 42-year-old man arrested in Co Fermanagh as part of a cross-border investigation into the discovery of a suspected improvised explosive device in Co Louth has been released by police.

The man was detained in the Letterbreen area of Co Fermanagh following a search on Sunday.

The arrest by the PSNI’s Terrorism Investigation Unit followed the discovery of a device in a search by Gardaí in the Ravensdale area of Co Louth on Sunday morning.

The device was removed for further forensic examination.

A PSNI spokesperson said the man was released to allow for further enquiries, adding: “The investigation continues.”
