Funeral details released for murdered Co Down pensioner Patsy Aust

The funeral of Co Down murder victim Patricia ‘Patsy’ Aust is due to take place on Thursday.

The 81-year-old’s body was found in a house in Hawthorne Court in Bangor on June 2.

Her 85-year-old brother appeared in court last week charged with her murder.

Ms Aust’s funeral is due to be held at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Bangor on Thursday at 11.30am and afterwards to Roselawn Crematorium.

A funeral notice for the former school teacher she was “deeply loved by all her family and friends”.

“Only the best memories of you Patsy and the happiness you have brought to us all,” it said.

“You will never be forgotten, and we shall try to support ourselves with our memories of having you to cherish and love.

“We are grieving with loss but also with love.”

Jim Moore of Clandeboye Place in Bangor has been remanded into custody accused of her murder.

He appeared before Newtownards Magistrates Court last Tuesday.

Moore, from Clandeboye Place in Bangor, faces a single charge alleging that he murdered Patricia Aust on 2 June this year. The body of 81-year-old "Patsy" Aust, a retired teacher, was found dead at a house in Hawthorne Court in the County Down city on Sunday after police received a report of a death of a woman at about 5.30 pm on 2 June and when they arrived, officers found her body in the living room. Giving evidence to the court Det. Insp. Campbell said he was aware of the facts and circumstances of the offence and he believed he could connect Moore to the charge. Defence solicitor Dermot Bowes confirmed he was not applying for bail on behalf of Moore at this stage so the prosecuting lawyer asked for the case to be adjourned to the videolink list.
