Named: Cyclist who died after collision with lorry in Belfast

A cyclist who died after a collision with a lorry in north Belfast on Thursday morning has been named by police as Gary McMahon.

Police confirmed that Mr McMahon (58) died at the scene.

Inspector Cherith Adair from the PSNI Collision Investigation Unit said: “Shortly before 7:50am, it was reported that a lorry and a cyclist were involved in a collision.

“Gary, who was the cyclist, sadly passed away at the scene as a result of his injuries.”

Clifton Street was closed in both directions for several hours before being reopened on Thursday evening.
