Two people arrested in connection with the ongoing investigation into the fatal explosion at a petrol station in Creeslough, Co Donegal have been released without charge.
The man and woman, both aged in their 40s, had been detained by Gardaí on Monday and were held at separate garda stations in Donegal.
Gardaí said the arrests were related to the explosion at the service station and apartment building in October 2022.
Ten people – four men, three women and three young people, ranging in ages from five to 59 - died in the explosion.
In a statement on Tuesday, a garda spokesperson said: “The two people who were arrested yesterday, 27th May 2024, as part of the investigation into the fatal explosion at a building complex in Creeslough, County Donegal, have been released without charge.
“The investigation, led by Gardaí in the Donegal Division, is ongoing with the intention of submitting a file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.”
The 10 people who died in the Creeslough tragedy were: Catherine O’Donnell (39) and her son, James Monaghan (13), Martin McGill (49), Jessica Gallagher (24), James O’Flaherty (48), Martina Martin (49), Hugh Kelly (59), Robert Garwe (50) and his daughter, Shauna Flanagan Garwe (5) and teenager, Leona Harper (14).
