Belfast City Airport has advised people travelling to the airport at the weekend to allow extra time for their journeys.

The airport said the advisory was due to an overnight road closure on A2 carriageway at Tillysburn for maintenance works.

The closure will be in effect from Saturday, September 21 until the morning of Sunday, September 22.

It advised travellers to “follow the alternative routes which will be clearly signed on the approach to the works”.

According to the Department for Infrastructure, there will be an overnight road closure in place in both directions for essential maintenance works from 11pm on Saturday, September 21 to 6am on Sunday, September 22.

It added: “Diversion routes will be signposted and access to Belfast City Airport can be made via the local road network.

“The Department asks road users to slow down when travelling in the vicinity of the works and abide by the temporary traffic management arrangements which are in place to ensure their own safety and the safety of our workers and contractors.

“The Department has carefully planned these road works and associated traffic management arrangements in order to minimise inconvenience to the public.

“Those road users, particularly those travelling to Belfast City Airport are advised to allow extra time for their journey.”
