In a heartfelt tribute to their favourite team Caoimhe and Paul Murray have commissioned a mural to celebrate Armagh’s journey to the final.

The mural painted by Newry based artist Adele McGee features Armagh players Ross McQuillan, Rian O’Neill and Jason Duffy.

Caoimhe explained: “We’re just massive Armagh fans; we travel everywhere to support them. It was a running joke with my friends that if we got to the final, then Rian O’Neill would be on the side of my house.

“We never thought we were going to get here, you know, but then it actually happened and so we just had to do it, I had to get someone to paint it on the side of the house.”

Such is the excitement in the Murray household that even their Jack Russell cross Angie received an Armagh makeover from Caoimhe, who works as a dog groomer.

“In the end, we couldn’t put it on the side of the house because it’s pebble dash, so it’s been painted on wood and we’ve just put the wood on the side of the house,” said Caoimhe.

“This way is kind of better because we can keep it and look back on it.”

Paul and Caoimhe are set to be heading to Croke Park on Sunday and hope to relive the glory of 2002.

Speaking about the flurry of work she has been involved with across The Orchard County she said: “I’ve loved being part of the preparations for the final.

“It has given everyone such a big lift and it has also created a lot of work for local businesses, including mine. The people of Armagh are really great at supporting each other.”
