Brian Warfield from The Wolfe Tones has said there has been 'no update' on the band supporting Oasis at Croke Park next August.

The lead singer of The Wolfe Tones said there has been ‘no update’ on the iconic Irish band supporting Oasis on their reunion tour stops at Croke Park next summer.

Brian Warfield said that while the band is set to retire after next weekend’s string of farewell shows at Dublin’s 3 Arena, the “door is still open” for a return to the stage if they ended up supporting Oasis at Croke Park next August.

Just last month, Liam Gallagher hinted that he would be up for having the Irish folk band support Oasis in Dublin when he responded, “Let’s do it,” to a suggestion from a fan online.

Speaking to The Irish News, Brian Warfield said that 80-year-old bandmate Tommy Byrne is up for coming out of retirement next summer to support the Britpop band.

“Tommy said he’d come back for Croke Park,” he laughed.

“So, you never know – the door is still open!”

He added that seeing Liam’s post online was “unbelievable”.

“We’ve known about Oasis for years and years,” he said.

“They were the ‘new Beatles’ at the time and a great, young band.

“It’s a pity we couldn’t get together [previously]. Maybe we will, I don’t know, but it would be nice,” he said.

Brian has previously said that this was not the first time the Gallagher brothers had referenced their band and that they had come to see them perform in Manchester when they were younger.

Liam and brother Noel are to play two sell-out shows in Dublin’s Croke Park on August 15 and 16 as part of their reunion tour.

While no announcement has been made on support acts for the shows, Liam has recently said online that he would not be up for Irish act Kneecap supporting them as he doesn’t “do politics”.

“We’re here to come together not to divide,” he said in a post on X.
