Norbrook’s WeCare Christmas programme has become a cherished annual tradition, bringing joy, warmth, and festive spirit to families in need across the region.
This year, 450 employees generously donated a total of 2,400 hours of their time to support the various fundraising activities, from organising events to volunteering in the community.
What began in 2019 as an initiative encouraging employees to donate food and toys to local charities has grown into a large-scale effort to spread hope and happiness during the holiday season and highlights Norbrook’s collective spirit and commitment to making a difference in the community.
Last year, the WeCare scheme won the Impact in your Community Award at the Business in the Community Responsible Business Awards, exemplifying the organisation’s commitment to community involvement and responsible business.
Norbrook’s Chief Executive Officer, Andrea Iucci, shared his pride in the programme’s success: “We’re so proud to see how our WeCare Christmas initiative continues to grow each year. It reflects the true generosity and dedication of each Norbrook employee, and we’re humbled to be able to bring so much joy to our community during the holiday season.”
The efforts of Norbrook employees ensured that over 1,000 families received food and toy hampers, providing comfort and joy during this holiday season. In addition, by delivering 1,250 warm, nourishing meals to vulnerable groups, Norbrook staff provided not just sustenance, but also a vital sense of connection and care.
Norbrook employees served a hearty Christmas lunch to 240 senior citizens who enjoyed a festive afternoon filled with good company, conversation and laughter. And younger generations weren’t forgotten, with 500 toys donated to bring smiles to young faces across the area.
Employees further supported local charities by raising £500 through festive fundraising events. Meanwhile, over 200 families experienced the wonder of Christmas by visiting Santa in his custom-designed Norbrook sleigh at Santa’s Grotto. To top it off, 50 dedicated employees volunteered their time to transform the reception and gardens of the Southern Area Hospice and Rathore School with dazzling holiday decorations, spreading festive magic.
Norbrook ensured that their efforts reached the people who needed it most through their partnerships with Bolster, SureStart Newry, Kilkeel Development Association, and the Outreach and Rural Health Partnership.
