St Mary’s, Belfast to take on Maynooth for a place in the last eight as Sigerson Cup third round is drawn

MTU Cork take on their sister school MTU Kerry in a bid to advance to the quarter-finals

It’s last-chance saloon for St Mary’s University College Belfast as they take the long way round to the Sigerson Cup quarter-finals, with Maynooth standing in their way.

The Ranch lost to TU Dublin 3-14 to 3-11 despite a late comeback attempt spearheaded by Emyvale’s Niall McKenna, who hit 2-7 against the Dubs.

Maynooth‘s drumming of ATU Donegal gave them new life in the competition with Kerry’s Luke Crowley hitting 3-2. The Kildare school will look to take out the maroon and green of the Ranch.

The live game of this round will be the clash of the Munster Technical Universities as the Cork and Kerry campuses take on each other for a place in the latter stages of the competition.



After losing the Dublin derby, DCU DÉ will play ATU Sligo after they eliminated ATU Galway by a point.

University of Limerick, having been beaten by reigning Sigerson Cup champions Ulster University, will now take on Uni of Galway, who flexed their firepower against Queen’s University, Belfast in the last round.

Galway stormed to a 23-point win in Templeport in Cavan as the 2023 champions hit 4-15, with their Belfast opponents only managing four points.
