AFTER a frustrating season for Down, the Tailteann Cup offers the Mournemen a chance at redemption and Sam Maguire football next year.
The promised land of the senior championship was the goal for this year’s Down team, with their squad believing that they belonged with the big boys.

Last year, Down missed out on silverware when Meath beat them 2-13 to 0-14.
Laois met the Mournemen last year in the semi-final stage of the Tailteann Cup, with Down coming out winners by a scoreline of 8-16 to 2-12.
This year, Justin McNulty and his men have gone from strength to strength, first winning the Division Four League Final against Leitrim and beating teams such as Fermanagh, Kildare and Antrim on their way to Croke Park this weekend.

Down will play Laois in the Tailteann Cup final at Croke Park on Saturday, July 13.
Throw-in is at 3pm.
