Last week was a forgettable experience for both sides in today’s clash between Kerry and Derry, with both sides looking for their first points of this league campaign.
Kerry were meant to have faced Donegal in Killarney however, due to the effects of Storm Éowyn, Tír Chonnaill weren’t able to travel. The trip up north to Derry will be the Kingdom’s first contest of the season and the first proper game under the FRC’s new rule enhancements.
Derry, however, have already been blooded in this new era of Gaelic football, with Ulster rivals Tyrone getting the better of the Oak Leafers at Healy Park last weekend in what was a difficult game for Derry and Tally to start the season off with.
Kerry have yet to be seen in a competitive game under the FRC’snew rule ‘enhancements’ with many a GAA fan saying that the attacking changes could benefit the talents of Kerry, who have kicking talents like David Clifford and Seanie O’Shea at their disposal.

Two-time GAA/GPA Footballer of the Year David Clifford might not run out for Kerry this weekend though, with the Fossa club man not confirmed to have rejoined the squad yet, however, O’Connor said that he will be back with his teammates soon.
Despite the lack of Clifford class, Derry will know that they have a game and a half ahead of them as this is the side that has knocked them out of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship in the last two seasons, last year in the preliminary Quarter-finals and the year before in an agonising semi-final defeat.
