THE All-Ireland Club Intermediate Football Championship final between Ballinderry and Crossmolina, due to be played on Sunday, has been postponed because of “tragic events”.

The final – part of a scheduled triple-header – will be refixed after a death in the Mayo club.

The GAA has yet to confirm when it will be take place but announced that: “Due to tragic events, the AIB GAA Football All-Ireland Intermediate Club Championship Final between Crossmolina Deel Rovers and Ballinderry is postponed. The CCCC will confirm the re-fixture details in due course.”

Crossmolina Deel Rovers released the following statement: “The club are devastated at the news of the tragic incident that has occurred. Our heartfelt thoughts are with the family and friends at this difficult time.

“We have been in contact with our members involved, and they have requested that we all understand their need for privacy at this incredibly difficult time.”

In a statement Ballinderry said that their thoughts “are with the Crossmolina community and all impacted at this time”.
