BELFAST-based animal nutrition company Devenish has unveiled the next step in its strategic growth plans with the opening of a new office and manufacturing facility in the Mexican city of Hermosillo.

The new facility, which is already fully operational, will host the company’s Mexico corporate headquarters and a two-line premix production system.

It gives Devenish a permanent base for growing its administrative and operations teams in the region, where it has had a presence since 2014, as well as providing local production capabilities which will allow it to increase its service and product offerings to customers.

Dr Manuel De La Llata, director of Devenish Mexico said: “We pride ourselves on working directly with producers to identify solutions to their challenges by utilising our collective nutrition expertise, our global network of research facilities and helping to ensure we offer a focused and sustainable supply chain system.

“This new facility reinforces Devenish’s commitment to establish a local presence in Mexico to sustain our growth within the country,” he added.

Devenish, which carries out pioneering research and development in health and sustainability throughout the food chain, has grown its presence in Mexico since 2014 by investing in its people and facilities there.

In 2016 Devenish opened an office and distribution centre in Queretaro, Mexico, to streamline the supply of goods to its clients.

Then in 2019 it commissioned a swine (pig) research facility in Cuernavaca in partnership with one of its customers. This allowed to trial multiple technologies at a commercial scale, with the real-life conditions of the Mexico swine market and create solutions that are tailored to the local market.

Cory Penn, president of Devenish North America, said: “We’re incredibly proud to open this new facility in Hermosillo and look forward to many future investments to further support our commitment in Mexico.”
