TWO Belfast accountancy firms have announced a joint venture creating 12 jobs.

Muldoon & Co and specialist accountancy firm James McMahon & Co, said their combined efforts will enable them to offer a wider range of services to clients.

Set up in 1992, Muldoon & Co provides a full range of accountancy, audit, tax and business advisory services from its offices in Mount Charles.

James McMahon & Co was founded in 1991 as a full-service tax and accountancy practice. It has developed specific expertise, working with opticians across the UK and is a highly regarded specialist ophthalmic accountancy practice.

Muldoon & Co said it will take on at least 12 new staff to support both the joint venture and its own organic growth, with six new people expected to be in post by the end of the first quarter.

The firm is also set to open a new office in London during March, which will service clients of both practices.

Jim McMahon said: “Our business and our client base has been expanding across the UK as a result of our specialist expertise. This joint venture will ensure the firm continues to offer the highest levels of service to our clients and will provide us with access to additional support, resource and advisory expertise through Muldoon & Co.”

Muldoon & Co partner Raymond Tiffney said the joint venture will help both firms grow

“We have an excellent team of more than 40 people who are focused on providing high quality advice and solutions for our clients across tax, accounting, audit, R&D tax credits, VAT and more.

“A growing client base brings greater opportunities across all areas of our practice for people to advance their careers and we are excited to have the opportunity to bring more new talent into the firm this year.”
