A POPULAR Fermanagh tourist resort has completed phase one of a multi-million pound expansion.
The family-run Finn Lough on the shores of Lough Erne, known for its unique bubble dome accommodation has unveiled a new sensory spa, additional shared spaces including a library and movie room and completed major landscaping to the 100-acre site.
The spa, part of the initial £600,000 investment, boasts a float bath, traditional Finnish sauna, aromatherapy sauna, salt scrub station and hydrotherapy pool, with guests accessing the various elements by following an intimate forest trial.
Stage two of the investment programme, which is due to commence shortly, will see the further development of the resort's bubble dome accommodation. The transparent bubble domes offer guests 180-degree forest views and have helped the Fermanagh business win a number of accolades including being named ‘The Coolest Hotel in Ireland’ by the Times.
In addition to expanding the existing facilities the business is exploring export opportunities in Canada and Australia as demand for a bubble dome experience spreads.
Gillian Beare, director of Finn Lough Resort alongside brother Michael said she is excited by the continued growth of the business.
“We have spent the last four years building our vision for the business and our reputation for innovation and service excellence, and we are delighted to unveil the next stage of growth in line with this ethos. Guests trust us to provide them with a luxurious experience that harnesses the power of nature and this is reflected in our new spa experience and expanded premises across the resort.”
The major investment at Finn Lough has been supported by First Trust Bank and relationship manager, Darren Ward said the business is setting an example to others in the industry.
“Gillian and Michael’s passion for hospitality excellence and customer service ensures they are always at the forefront of innovation. Like the bubble domes, the new spa offers visitors a one of a kind experience, allowing guests to appreciate the beauty of Fermanagh’s lake lands in luxury.
"Constantly striving for advancement, it’s great to see Michael and Gillian look at export opportunities and how they can tackle talent issues facing the sector – setting a great example for others looking to expand their own opportunities.”
Aiming to be at the cutting-edge of the hospitality sector, Finn Lough employs state-of-the-art booking and fintech technology for guests to reserve and organise activities and payment across the resort. The business also supports an international exchange programme for students, with young people travelling from abroad to Finn Lough to gain experience in Northern Ireland’s tourism sector while improving their English.
